What "a day" means

Every date you pick or see in Major is the shop's business day, in Cairo time — not the computer's clock or UTC.

When you choose "from 10/09 to 10/15" in a report, Major counts whole business days of the shop:

  • In Cairo time. A sale at 00:30 on the 15th belongs to the 15th, even though in UTC it is still the 14th.
  • From the shop's day start — midnight.
  • Both ends included. "To 10/15" includes everything until the end of the 15th.

The same rule is used everywhere a day matters: reports and exports, the audit log filter, expiry dates (a lot is expired on its expiry date), document numbers (PI-20261015-…, SC-…), ticket numbers that restart daily, and export file names.

A sale counts on the day it was closed; money counts in the shift it was taken in. See Close the shift and read the Z report.
